Down The Road Beer Co. made its first official mark on the Metro Boston Craft Beer market with the launch of its signature Pukwudgie Pale Ale in April, 2015. Down The Road Beer Co. brings a uniqueness to the Craft Beer market by bucking the trend in order to create the next craziest innovation. Instead, they focus on crafting high quality FRESH beer, LOCALLY brewed in MA, and INSPIRED by traditional brewing techniques and styles. Down The Road beers are currently sold throughout Eastern MA, including Cape Cod. The company has already sold its beer in 700 retail stores, bars, and restaurants and plans to open a taproom and brewery in Everett, MA in early 2017.
Meet The Brewer
Donovan Bailey is Down The Road Beer Company’s founder and head brewer. Donovan launched the company’s first commercial beer in April, 2015, however, he began brewing over 20 years ago as a teenager with his father. After serving for eight years in the Army, Donovan earned a bachelor's degree in microbiology and worked in construction and utility maintenance and installation before returning to his passion of brewing.
When he started brewing, Donovan never imagined he would be opening his own brewery. He is the first to admit that his first couple of batches were awful, but with some good council and a pitch-perfect palate, Donovan was able to improve his beer with each passing brew-day. As Donovan’s recipes improved, his friends and colleagues encouraged the burgeoning brewmaster to submit the fruit of his labors to homebrew competitions. Before long, the judges began to acknowledge the quality of Donovan’s beer as well as his skill as a brewer.
Every recipe Donovan concocts today is steeped in generations of tradition, yet inspired by contemporary trends and modern techniques. Donovan is looking forward to opening the taproom to begin working on new taproom-only experimental brews.
